Additional awards are usually given to the best-conditioned horses who finish in the top 10 for
distances of 50 miles (80 km) or more. The Best Conditioned, or "BC" award is generally more prized than finishing
first, as it is determined by a combination of speed, weight carried, and veterinary scores. Conversely, some pony
breeds may have features in common with horses, and individual animals may occasionally mature at over 14.2 h, but
are still considered to be ponies. It was speculated that the horse might be a relic population of wild horses, but
testing did not reveal genetic differences with domesticated horses, which is in line with news reports indicating
that they are used as pack and riding animals by the local villagers. Others feel that imprint training of a foal
interferes with the mare and foal bond and prefer to wait until the foal is a few days old, but do begin training
within the first week to month of life.

Alpha brokers London Despite the often told tale of the horses
swimming to Assateague from a shipwrecked Spanish galleon, the most plausible explanation is that they are the
descendents of horses that were brought to Assateague in the 17th century by mainland owners to avoid fencing laws
and taxation of livestock. All miniature pony breeds can be traced back to Shetland pony origins, crossed with a
variety of other pony breeds. The Australian Miniature Pony was established as a result of crosses with small
Shetland ponies and an Argentinean miniature pony, the Fallabella. The Fallabella is more fine-boned and leggy than
other miniature pony breeds, giving it a slimmer, more horse-like appearance.
